Christmas Celebrations To Mark Official Opening Of Newcastle Building Society’s New Carlisle Branch

Christmas is set to come early to the new Carlisle branch of the North East’s biggest building society.

Newcastle Building Society is hosting a special Christmas-themed official opening event at its new open plan branch at 65 English Street from 11am on Thursday 6 December.

A range of local traders will be setting up their stalls in the branch’s community area and selling a range of locally-produced festive gifts, while there will also be carol singers performing and free refreshments for everyone.

Between 11am and 2pm on Saturday 8 December, Santa Claus will be paying a special visit to the new branch, giving presents to children including money boxes, chocolates, sweets, stationery and five pound vouchers they can use to open their own regular saver accounts.

Newcastle Building Society has created its new English Street branch as part of a continuing multi-million pound investment programme across the whole of its branch network, and has maintained the key existing features of its new Carlisle home, including its grand staircase, stained glass window and feature ceiling.

The new 2,000 sq ft branch gives customers better access to services, information and advice, as well as to improved meeting spaces in which they can discuss all aspects of personal financial planning.

The branch’s community area provides a free space in which local people, groups and good causes can share information about events and activities that are happening in the local area.

Daniel Nixon, manager at Newcastle Building Society’s Carlisle branch, said: “We’ve had a terrific response from customers to the new branch since we opened our doors, both to the modern new look that we’ve created and to the original features that we left in place.

“These events will be a great way for us to both officially open the branch and kick off the festive season and we’re hoping to get lots of people along to see everything that we’ve got on offer.”
