One of Liverpool’s first construction sites to resume once Covid restrictions eased, Baltic View, has been short listed for a national award.
The impressive residential and commercial building is up for an accolade at this year’s INCA Awards, established by the Insulated Render and Cladding Association. (INCA) is the recognised trade association for the External Wall Insulation (EWI) industry, representing the major system designers, a nationwide network of specialist installers and the key component suppliers.
The city’s premier residential and commercial building was worked on by Liverpool based property specialists Ecogee, who were involved in the installation of an Aliva external wall system, with Aliva UK now nominated for the award in the category ‘New Build: Insulation + Brick, Clay, Ceramic, Stone Finish’
Managing Director at Ecogee Brendan Helm said: “We wanted to create an aesthetic that was sympathetic to the heritage of the area, which is abundant in history, with many of the surrounding buildings dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. While looking visually impressive, it was also important to us to ensure the building was as sustainable as possible in terms of heat retention and energy efficiency as well as being to the highest standards of safety specifications.
“It’s an incredible honour to see the project and Aliva nominated in such prestigious industry awards, against some impressive properties and builds across the UK. We’re particularly proud of our work on Baltic View as it was the first brick slip system to be approved for use in the area by Liverpool City Council in recent years as well as being the first construction site in the city to resume when Covid restriction where eased.”
Located in the Baltic Triangle, which was recently named one of the coolest places to live in the UK by The Sunday Times, Baltic View offers residents contemporary living in a cultural setting. The new build apartment block, located in Liverpool’s L1 postcode area, boasts 130 privately owned residencies, contributing to a wider regeneration of the Baltic Triangle.
Business Development Director at Ecogee Denis Hennigan added: “Following the shortlist of Baltic View in this year’s INCA Awards, we’re putting forward two further projects of ours for consideration in 2022. This includes Cherry Lane, which saw us work with Wetherby to transform a series of social housing properties, enhancing the neighbourhood as well as delivering energy savings. This scheme was a £1.2million refurbishment of six three-storey blocks of flats operated by Torus Group with work including new roofs and windows, structural repairs, external wall insulation and rendering to name a few.
“Oxford House has also been a monumental project for us, working with one Vision Housing to deliver refurbishment works to the building, which consists of 90 flats over 15 floors. We delivered external wall insulation throughout and replaced all exterior windows using a team of local tradesmen. We used an Alsecco external wall insulation system, which consists of Rockwool insulation, silicon render finish and Clay Brick-Slips over a 4000 sq. m area, with a contract value of £450,000.”
The INCA Awards will be held on Friday November 26 at the MacDonald Burlington Hotel in Birmingham and will see industry experts and leaders from across the UK gather to celebrate.
