Four British Claims Awards Nominations for Leeds Broker

One of the directors at McCarron Coates, Paul Coates.

Leeds-based motor fleet and commercial insurance broking specialist, McCarron Coates, has been rewarded for its dedication to delivering a first-class in-house claims service to its clients, having secured four award nominations in the British Claims Awards 2023.

The broker has been shortlisted in the categories of Outstanding Services to Policyholder; Commercial Lines Broker of the Year; Claims Team of the Year and Broker of the Year. This is despite a record number of entries having been received for this year’s British Claims Awards.

The success endorses the broker’s decision to invest heavily in its own in-house claims division, to enable clients to receive a better service, at the point at which they need to draw on their insurance policy and make a claim. The claims team is headed up by Steven Stockley, a hugely experienced claims manager, who acquired his expertise in roles in both the UK and other parts of Europe, including in a capacity as AIG’s EMEA Technical Claims Manager, based in Lithuania.

Steven and his team maintain a cradle-to-grave visibility over all claims, to ensure a client can improve their reporting times, reduce incidents, engage in better driver recruitment and save tangible sums of money.

McCarron Coates also goes beyond the job description of ‘broker’, becoming a claims analyst, monitor of repairs costs, liaison officer between all claims parties and interrogator of data behind each claim.

This approach allows reasons for accident and incident occurrence to be identified and acted upon, creating a learning environment in which clients typically save five or six-figure sums on their insurance premiums. It also enables McCarron Coates to build trust with insurer partners, who are then more inclined to offer better rates and develop bespoke solutions for the broker’s clients.

Backing this, has been the new McCarron Coates App, which delivers swift First Notification of Loss (FNOL) reporting functionality for roadway accidents and has cut client premiums by an average of 25%.

McCarron Coates director, Paul Coates, says: “We are delighted to earn this massive recognition for the work Steve and his team have diligently carried out on behalf of our clients, right through the most challenging times of the pandemic and beyond. Their solutions-focused approach to claims is continually allowing innovative developments to be introduced, often with the support of cutting-edge technology that identifies risks before they become an issue.

“We hope that the four-award nomination will encourage other clients to get in touch and assess how much money, vehicle downtime and administrative time we could save them, by taking our dedicated approach to risk management and identifying how and why claims occur.”
