L Café joins ‘Eat Street’ expansion at Doncaster’s Frenchgate Shopping Centre

Frenchgate is expanding its food and beverage offering after welcoming the popular Doncaster dining destination L Café to the shopping centre.

L Café originally opened on Nether Hall Road in Doncaster in September last year where its offering of full English breakfasts, fresh sandwiches, and toasties, cookies and cakes, and SUKI teas and Tchibo coffees have proved popular with Doncaster diners.

Manager Simon Gabbitas has decades of experience in the food industry, having started in catering 20 years ago running a pub with his chef brother. He has also held positions including Executive Bar Manager at Sheffield United.

Karen Staniforth, assistant general manager at Frenchgate, said: “The L Café has taken the old Graveley’s Fish and Chip shop unit on South Mall, and will be a great complement to our food and beverage offer, helping us to further enhance and expand our Eat Street concept.

“The café offers our customers delights from a full English to a lovely quiche salad, or, if you want a light bite, a pot of tea with a sweet treat from the Fine Cookie Company. Customers can also pre-order on Just Eat.

“L Café is open from 7am to 7pm every day, giving commuters and workers the chance to start the day with a good breakfast, or grab a simple supper or cuppa on the way home.”

L Café’s move follows the announcement that Frenchgate is set to welcome an artisan cheese shop this summer. The Chuckling Cheese Company currently has a temporary kiosk in the centre ahead of its new store which will be situated on the South Mall.
