With the World Cup just underway, a new sports bar has opened in Whitley Bay creating three new jobs.
North Tyneside Councillors Sandra Graham and John O’Shea joined the new employees at Bar 52 – located on South Parade – to celebrate the opening of the facility, which will screen a variety of sports from around the globe.
Linked to the recently opened Hotel 52, the bar offers a wide selection of food and drinks and provides entertainment – including pool tables, dart boards, quiz nights and open mic nights.
The High Street Group of Companies is behind the venture, which will eventually deliver a string of boutique hotels and bars across the region under the 52 brand. A second hotel has already opened in Stanley.
Accompanying restaurants – the Latin American flavoured Loca or Italian themed Pazzo, both meaning ‘crazy’ – are also operating in these new locations.
With its headquarters in Cuthbert House, Newcastle, The High Street Group was established by successful entrepreneur Gary Forrest in 2006. It has grown to become a leading financial and property group employing over 100 people in activities including large scale property development and construction, hospitality and leisure.
