Laying the foundations: work has begun on the new housing development in Northumberland

Barratt Homes North East Operations Director Carl Sobolewski, marks the beginning of the construction works at Pegswood development

Barratt Homes North East, has begun work on the new Blossom Park development in Pegswood in Northumberland, overseen by operations director Carl Sobolewski, who attended the site to mark the beginning of the construction works.

The first of the 118 new homes, including the showhomes, are set to be ready in summer 2019. The new development will be made up of a variety of two, three and four bedroom homes, including some terraced, semi-detached and fully detached properties.

As part of the build process, Barratt Homes has invested over £373,000 into the Pegswood area. The funding, which is part of planning agreements with the region’s local authorities, has been spread across a variety of services such as education contributions, healthcare contributions, off-site road and public-right-of-way works and 18 affordable homes.

Carl Sobolewski, Operations Director for Barratt Homes North East, said: “It is an exciting time for us, as we start to lay the foundations for the first new homes at Blossom Park. Our thanks go to everyone involved for their continued work and support in the delivery of these new homes, and we are looking forward to building a new community in this area once the works are completed.”

Barratt Homes also extended its thanks to the local community for its patience during the construction phases of the development, especially to those immediately neighbouring the site.
Mr Sobolewski added: “We appreciate that the construction of a development can cause inconvenience to the local community. We are working hard to keep everyone informed of our build programme and reduce any unnecessary disruption, and would welcome local residents getting in touch with us should they have any concerns.”
