Leading KC to Join Newcastle’s Head of Place For Look at the Future

Paul Darling, OBE KC.

The construction and real estate sectors seem set to face significant challenges in the coming months. Economic uncertainty and slowing levels of investment mean architects, engineers and contractors alike report an increasingly difficult market.

Added to this, costly disputes and legal battles remain a challenge for the sector. One major dispute from the North East is set to reach the courts this Autumn, with a £140m claim set to be decided in court before the end of the year.

On 11th October, construction barrister Paul Darling KC (also Chair of local pharmacy, Darlings), will talk to Michelle Percy of Newcastle City Council. They will join construction and law experts from Womble Bond Dickinson, DAC Beachcroft, and Decipher. The expert team are set to examine the future of construction and real estate in the region.

Paul will chat to Michelle about her work and the council’s plans for the region. The solicitors will take a look at digital construction and how that is set to revolutionise the sector. They’ll also bring attendees up to date on the latest legal developments. Paul Gibbons of Decipher will take a look at what the industry needs to consider to avoid costly disputes.

The event will give attendees the opportunity to meet with fellow industry leaders and experts. It includes a networking reception and takes place at the Helix on 11th October.
