Manchester-Based Shipster Wins Prestigious UK eCommerce Silver Award

Shipster, the shipping platform that allows e-commerce companies to personalise their automatic shipping rules, won the Silver Award in their category, eCommerce Software of the Year, at the 2021 UK eCommerce Awards. The annual ceremony celebrates excellence across multiple online retail sectors. The UK eCommerce awards focus on innovation, technology, creativity and the individuals behind e-commerce providers and solutions. An esteemed panel of judges, including some of the biggest names in digital and search marketing, oversees the rigorous evaluation process.

Yet Shipster is no stranger to accolades, having been nominated recently for two other awards, including “Small Tech Company of the Year” for the Prolific North Awards and “Most Effective Remote Working Programme” for the Engage Awards. Not to mention recently winning the System Integrators Award at the Digital City Awards earlier this year.

Tony Cheetham, Managing Director at Shipster who built the company from the ground up, said, “One nomination was amazing to receive—but three within the last few months has really bolstered the team’s spirit. Although awards aren’t everything, it’s a fantastic achievement and helps us to recognise the hard work and dedication of the team. We’re also extremely proud to be nominated next to so many great names in tech.”

The recognition is well-deserved given the many challenges the company overcame during the pandemic. Once lockdowns were announced, Shipster’s e-commerce clients experienced an incredible surge in demand. This situation resulted in an increased need for support and having to hire additional team members. Yet, the company adapted quickly, seeing unprecedented profit growth. In addition, customers could receive the same shipping customisation service with no compromise to their everyday support needs. Shipster even created a plug-and-play setup, ensuring that employees working from home could easily switch between their office desktop and laptop without disrupting their workflow.

Another challenge was smoothly taking their clients into a post-Brexit world. But Shipster was able to prioritise client success every step of the way. They introduced new integrations and features upon request and rolled out a Brexit version of Shipster to keep clients successfully shipping to Europe. According to Damian Donnelly, Director at Shipster, “We’re focused on innovation and serving our clients. We’re constantly adapting and building new integrations that are future-proofed, which is integral for the likes of Brexit and working through a pandemic.”

And thanks to their support team, all their clients were moved onto the new Brexit Shipster build before the Brexit deadline. The company was even able to support client businesses with a unique pandemic support package, granting free additional shipping licences to client medical and personal protective equipment (PPE) suppliers during the global pandemic crisis.

The Shipster team and their cutting-edge platform have adapted quickly to client shipping systems during a year of extreme upheaval. Clearly, their ongoing commitment to innovation and client satisfaction is unwavering. So, what does the future hold? Only time will tell. But their hard work is certainly paying off.
