Manchester’s The Lowry Hotel to introduce first-of-its-kind in-room concierge

Manchester’s The Lowry Hotel has become the first hotel in Manchester to introduce an in-room concierge system.

This is just one of several technological firsts for the hotel, having also installed two Tesla charging points available for both hotel guests and the public to use earlier this year.

This latest move will see an Amazon Dot system, specially configured for hotel services by Berkshire firm Avoiceo, being installed in the hotel’s bedroom suites on a trial basis, meaning guests will now be able to discover the hotel’s wide range of services simply by activating the voice command system with the phrase ‘Alexa, ask The Lowry Hotel…’

This means, rather than needing to ring down to reception, guests will now have everything they need to know during their stay – the WiFi code, check-out times, when breakfast is served among much more – available to them in their room in an instant.

If successful, the trial will see Avoiceo’s bespoke system then rolled out across the hotel.

Adrian Ellis, The Lowry Hotel’s General Manager, said: “At The Lowry Hotel, we are always trying to find innovative ways to enhance our offering to all of our guests, whether they are staying with us or using our facilities for a business meeting or charitable event.

“With the installation of the Avoiceo system, we are looking to ensure our guests quickly and easily have all the information they need while they are with us.

“Ultimately, this system will hopefully serve to further improve our guests’ stay, while also giving our front-of-house staff more time to enrich the guest experience in other ways.”
