New Manchester Hosting Company Unveiled by Fat Media Founders

New hosting company, Northern Bloc, has just been launched this month by two Fat Media founders and their former head of hosting. As well as offering powerful windows hosting, Northern Bloc is a celebration of the northern digital economy, where its team is deeply rooted and hopes to help businesses grow, by making the most of their tech and hosting platform.

The three creators Dominic Williams, David Whiteford, and Tony Cheetham, previously worked together at Fat Media. Dominic and David were founding members of Fat Media and Tony was former Head of Hosting for 10 years. The technical trio have now regrouped to create Northern Bloc; the powerhouse windows hosting company that’s proud to serve the booming northern digital economy.

Director David Whiteford reveals,

“Between us, we have the perfect skillsets and years of experience and decided we could deliver a hosting platform the way we think it should be. In our experience, customers want to speak to the people doing the work, not a salesperson.”

Over £100,000 worth of software and equipment has been invested in by Northern Bloc and the company already has clients in Manchester, Lancaster and Liverpool signed up. This is thanks to a committed team with its three creators, two Lancaster University graduates and its first apprentice.

Individual companies or agencies, who need to host websites for multiple clients, can look to Northern Bloc for professional hosting and a variety of options. Hosting is split into simple, clear packages: Bloc 1, Bloc 2, Bloc 3, Bloc 4, and full dedicated servers. Their head office is situated in Manchester City Centre near St Peter’s Square, and the servers are located in the “Knowledge Quarter” of Manchester, alongside the universities.

Director Tony Cheetham says,

“We chose Manchester as our base of operations because its central to the northern powerhouse and has a thriving digital economy which fits perfectly with our ethos. Manchester also has excellent connectivity and a wide availability of technical skills.”

Northern Bloc is also a celebration of the UK’s northern digital economy, which is key to the talent and experience of each team member.

The Northern Bloc website states:

“The Northern Powerhouse is an economy of over 15 million consumers, 175,000 business investors, 8 universities, one-third of the UK’s apprentices, over 65,000 start-ups in 2014 and £60 billion worth of exports to over 100 countries. We’re proud to be one of the many working cogs in this booming economy and excited to help you reap the benefits too.”

Director Dominic Williams, creator of the brand image says,

“Northern Bloc really allows us to celebrate our roots in the northern digital economy and proudly support other companies who want to grow, just like we’ve done in the past.”
