Ryecroft Glenton (RG) has once again demonstrated its commitment to developing homegrown professional talent, with six new trainees beginning their careers at its Newcastle office.

The North East-based advisory firm, which has a history stretching back more than 120 years, has long prided itself on nurturing young professionals and creating long-term career opportunities in the region.

This year’s intake includes five graduates starting ACA training contracts and one school leaver embarking on the AAT qualification. Together, they will be working across RG’s Audit and Assurance, Tax, and Accounts and Business Services teams.

Among them are Charles Downs, a Business Management graduate from the University of Glasgow, and James Samples, who studied Accounting and Finance at Newcastle University. Both join the Audit and Assurance team.

The Tax departments have welcomed Patrick Cooper and Jessica de Sousa, who will pursue joint ACA and Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualifications. Patrick studied Economics at Glasgow, while Jessica completed an Economics and Finance degree at Newcastle.

The Accounts and Business Services team has been strengthened by University of York graduate Lara Driver, training for her ACA, and school leaver Alfie Allen, who has joined via the AAT route after completing A-levels in Business, Maths and Sport.

Partner Peter Glenton said the new cohort reflected RG’s long-standing investment in the region’s workforce:

“We are proud to support these young professionals as they take the first steps in their careers. Each of them brings ambition and enthusiasm, and our role is to provide the training and support they need to thrive. In doing so, we’re not just investing in our firm but in the future strength of the North East business community.”
