Sadie Simpson, clinical negligence solicitor at Switalskis Solicitors, has won the ‘Rising Star of the Year’ award at Thursday’s Yorkshire Legal Awards ceremony.
Sadie, who is based at Switalskis’ Sheffield office, was nominated by colleagues for the award in recognition of her technical ability and unwavering commitment to client care, which colleagues say she demonstrates in often difficult circumstances.
The Yorkshire Legal Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of the region’s legal community. The judges praised Sadie for her work in what is a challenging area of law, stating: “Empathy is the defining quality of this future leader. Against adverse circumstances, [Sadie] has strived for a better future, is committed to colleagues, is committed to the firm, to the local community and to friends and family.”
On her award success, Sadie says: “I am so honoured to even have been shortlisted for such a prestigious award and to go on and win is just amazing. I come to work every day and do the best I can for my clients and hope that it will help. To be recognised in this way for the work I do is so heart-warming, especially in the tragic circumstances that my clients face. I feel very lucky to be able to help people in some way. Being born and raised in Sheffield, Yorkshire means a lot to me and I feel especially privileged to have won in these Yorkshire-wide awards. I am so grateful to have won considering the calibre of the other finalists and their wonderful achievements.”

Born and educated in Sheffield, Sadie graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2012 before completing her postgrad LPC at the University of Sheffield in 2014, qualifying as a Solicitor in August 2016. Sadie joined Switalskis’ Sheffield team in 2018 as a solicitor in the clinical negligence department. Her role requires that she deals with the day-to-day conduct of a range of medical negligence claims, with utmost client care, empathy and understanding.
