Think Employment: Creating the next generation of digital marketers in Leeds

A Leeds-based training organisation with a well-established history providing skills which meet the needs of people in the local community, have developed a trailblazing apprenticeship to help bridge the digital skills gap in Yorkshire.

Think Employment are about to launch an innovative Digital Marketing Apprenticeship, after more than 12 months of development and employer-based research, with their first cohort of learners due to start this July.

The Level 3 apprenticeship, which will help turn members of Leeds’ existing workforce and new apprentices into fully-fledged in-house digital marketers in just 18 months, includes deep-dives into the key areas of digital marketing, a series of real-life marketing projects and mentoring from digital marketers with experience in online strategy, paid advertising and content marketing and it’s delivered by experts with years of in-the-trenches digital marketing experience.

Chris Stott, Think Employment’s Business Development Manager, is very excited about the future of the company and the exciting, new apprenticeship:

“After 15 years in pre-employment training, we are delighted to be introducing Digital Marketing apprenticeships to our portfolio of qualifications,” Chris said.

“We’re opening a new facility at the fabulous Round Foundry Media Centre in the heart of the digital community in Leeds.”

“We have taken 12 months in developing this qualification and we are immensely proud of the product we have and the team we have in place to deliver it.”

In addition to the all-important knowledge the apprenticeship teaches budding digital marketers, it also delivers up to four industry-respected qualifications from BSC, CIM and Google, and it’s open to pretty much anyone, as long as they are keen on a career in the sector.

Non Levy paying businesses (those with an annual wage bill of less than £3m) who employ a 16-18 year-old apprentice, receive the training free of charge and a £1,000 grant paid over two installments.

Businesses who employ a 19 year-old (or over) apprentice, only have to pay 10% of the cost of a digital marketing apprentice, thanks to the government’s commitment to cover 90% of the £12,500 fee.

So for just £1,250 spread over 18 months, any business can have its own in-house digital marketing expert, co-ordinating campaigns, bringing more people to your website and nurturing leads.
