80s Christmas takeover for Leeds-based creative agency

A Yorkshire-based digital design agency has planned an 80s Christmas campaign, including a website takeover, which will go live on 14th December 2018.

Created by Tall Agency, based in Marshall Court, Leeds, the campaign is influenced by 80’s design trends including bold, neon colours and jagged typography.

The firm’s website will transform into an 80s platform, filled with Spotify lists of 80s music, films and TV adverts.

Tall’s clients will receive an 80s inspired Christmas card, alongside a VHS tape and a link to a 40 second video showcasing ‘the making of’ the card.

The agency’s social media channels will also include teasers in the week leading up to the launch.

Commenting on the 80s takeover, director of Tall, Guy Utley said:

“This year we’ve decided to have a little fun with our creative digital skills and reflect the recent 80s design influences that we’ve seen coming through TV and music advertising. This is a decade when the adverts were less about the huge production costs and more about the fun.

“At Tall, we love almost everything about the 80s; Knight Rider, The Goonies, Commodore 64’s, Marathon chocolate bars and the A Team. From the epic mullets to the big-haired teens in pastel clothes… the 80s really did rock.

“We’re not saying bring the 80’s back but rather we’re paying homage to the things we know and love; so, we’ve designed, curated and created a number of things all in an 80’s style.

“Our Christmas card, the three wise men reimagined, depicts our favourite childhood supercars, navigating their way towards the star.

“We hope our followers enjoy our Christmas takeover this year as much as we enjoyed making it.”
