Leeds-based Panel Check offers a unique survey, investigation, testing, and reporting service to building and site owners and occupiers, aimed at managing risks associated with the use of composite insulated panels in their buildings.
Founded in 2021 by Pete Wright and Simon Banks, Leeds-based Panel Check has been developing services for property, insurance, and facilities management clients, as well as building and site owners and occupiers.
Panel Check’s founders have extensive experience providing design and project management services to the food manufacturing industry. With increasing pressure from insurers on food producers to manage risks associated with the use of composite insulated panels in their buildings, Pete Wright said, “After being asked more and more often ‘What is my factory built from?’, we realised that there wasn’t a specialist in the UK that could offer clients a survey, investigation, testing and reporting service.”
The tragic events at Grenfell have highlighted the importance of scrutinising construction materials, particularly composite insulated systems found in wall and roof cladding, as well as internal walls and ceilings. Consequently, Panel Check has responded to the demand for advice on panel systems and the risks associated with them.
However, many sites lack records of their construction, making it difficult to manage risk effectively or engage with the insurance market. Wright adds, “We have the design, surveying and construction knowledge and have partnered with a leading UK university to develop test protocols. We believe our offering is unique in the UK and that we can not only save clients money, but can also help them actively manage risk and improve site safety.”
Panel Check provides a unique service in the UK that includes survey, investigation, testing, and reporting. As Wright explains, “We have worked at diverse sites now including food processing, car dealerships, offices, general industrial and mixed use sites.” The company has already provided survey and testing services to various clients and aims to continue helping building and site owners and occupiers manage their risks effectively.
