A three-storey office building in Carlisle – most recently home to laser quest, glow-in-the-dark mini golf and escape rooms – is set to go under the hammer later this month with a guide price of £300,000–£400,000.
The 13,000 sq ft property on Hillcrest Avenue, just a mile from the city centre, was formerly the headquarters of entertainment company Total Enigma and renewable energy business Total Power. It will be offered for sale in the next online property auction held by Pugh, part of Eddisons, on 27 August, alongside around 100 other lots.
The building underwent a £500,000 refurbishment in 2020, which included extensive modernisation and the creation of leisure attractions such as laser quest, a CSI-themed escape room, and a glow-in-the-dark mini golf course installed in 2021. Work had also begun on a new paintball arena.
Energy-efficient upgrades were also carried out, including triple-glazed windows and an air-source heating and cooling system. Beyond the leisure facilities, the property includes modern office accommodation, a large function room, a self-contained flat with conservatory, and extensive basement and attic storage.
Paul Parker, associate director at Pugh, said: “It’s not every day a chance to buy your own laser quest and escape room venue comes along. The entertainment areas were installed on floating floors, so they can easily be altered or removed. The space is extremely flexible – each floor could function as a self-contained unit.
“Under new ownership, the property could continue as an entertainment venue, be returned to office use, or be redeveloped for alternative purposes subject to planning consent.”
