Leading housebuilder Bellway Homes has sponsored two players at semi-professional football club Flint Town United.
With its Summers Bridge development on Bayley Lane located not too far from the club’s ground on Marsh Lane on the banks of the River Dee in Flint, Bellway was keen to get involved with the Silkmen and has chosen to sponsor George Maire and Jack Thorn.
Local lad George is a product of the club’s thriving Academy and made his breakthrough into the senior squad last season. Still only 19, he is incredibly athletic, playing in an attacking midfield role where he utilises his terrific pace to break forward with the ball, and is currently being tracked by several league clubs.
Jack Thorn signed from Aberystwyth Town where he had been club captain and made more than 150 appearances. He can operate either in the heart of defence or as a defensive midfield player but is also capable of scoring important goals, especially from set pieces. Hawarden-born Jack started his career with Wrexham Academy before moving to Newtown and then Aberystwyth and is the son of former professional footballer Andy Thorn.
