BLJ Solicitors takes home trophy at Liverpool Law Society Legal Awards

BLJ Solicitors accept Criminal Law Award at the Liverpool Law Society Legal Awards

Bell Lamb and Joynson Solicitors has been recognised with a win at this year’s Liverpool Law Society’s Legal Awards.

Picking up the prize in the ‘Criminal Law Award’ category, the North West legal firm beat tough competition to receive the accolade for its excellence in the field.

Winners were revealed at a ceremony held at the Rum Warehouse on Friday, May 17, marking one of the most important dates of the city’s legal calendar.

Managing Partner of BLJ Solicitors Mike Leeman said: “As one of the oldest firms in the region it’s great to be recognised for our contribution to the legal field as we near our 200th birthday. It was a real privilege to share the stage with some of our best neighbouring law firms made up of talented individuals who are making waves in the sector. We would like to extend our congratulations to every firm shortlisted on the evening and want to thank the judging panel at Liverpool Law Society’s Legal Awards.

“We are the eighth largest provider regionally in terms of the number of criminal cases that we deal with and thanks to our dedicated team we’ve been able to grow our department in recent years despite the general trend, which is showing a decline in the volume of criminal firms and independent solicitors. This year has already proven to be one of our most exciting to date; having recently welcomed high-profile solicitor Jim Smith into our criminal team and recently unveiling our new branding, it’s been topped off by this fantastic award win.”

The award-winning firm boasts a criminal department of 9 solicitors across offices in Liverpool, Runcorn and Warrington, overseeing in excess of 1,500 criminal cases annually in addition to its work across areas such as family law, wills and probate and conveyancing to name a few.

Mike added: “Being a criminal solicitor is challenging but our workplace ethos is to support the team professionally whilst providing opportunities for collaboration, team building and overall wellness. We do this partly by encouraging modern working practices which utilise technology, which is one of the things that I believe makes us different. We’re actively introducing digital processes that will ensure maximum efficiency throughout the firm, but our criminal department has been the real pioneer, which makes it all the more rewarding to be recognised in this area specifically.”
