Northumberland’s Bolam Group has brought together employees from across its businesses for a team-building event aimed at strengthening culture and collaboration as Heathline Commercials Ltd celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Staff from Heathline Commercials were joined by colleagues from Moody Logistics and Storage and MCR Services at All Out Adventures in Slaley as part of a wider initiative to further strengthen links between the Cramlington-based businesses.
The event follows the involvement of senior managers and directors in the Entrepreneurs’ Forum Scale-up Leaders’ Academy and reflects the group’s ongoing focus on leadership development, culture and business growth.
Employees took part in a range of activities including a ‘Mission Assemble’ challenge, orienteering, archery, axe throwing, quad biking trekking and clay pigeon shooting, with five mixed teams competing throughout the day. The teams included staff from Heathline Commercials’ recently acquired Wallsend operation.
Caroline Moody, managing director of the family-run Bolam Group, said: “Celebrating 50 years of Heathline Commercials is a huge achievement, and it was great to mark it by bringing together people from all three businesses.
“One of the key things we focused on is strengthening the culture and embedding our core values that reflect who we are as a group. Events like this are important as they break down barriers between different parts of the business and encourage people to work more closely together.”
Founded in 1976, Heathline Commercials has developed into one of the North East’s best-known independent commercial vehicle servicing and repair businesses.
The company recently expanded its footprint across Tyneside through the acquisition of a former HGV and LGV garage in Wallsend. The move retained the site’s existing workforce and customer base while increasing Heathline’s total workforce from 14 to 22 employees.
Gavin Cape, engineering director at Heathline Commercials, said: “Heathline has changed and grown enormously over the years, from the size of the operation to the services we provide, but what has remained constant is the quality of the people within the business and the support we receive from our customers.
“The event was a great opportunity to recognise that success, welcome new members of the team and look ahead to the next chapter of growth for the business.”
The event forms part of the Bolam Group’s wider efforts to build closer connections between its businesses while supporting continued growth across the group.
