Heaton Mersey retirement community celebrates official opening

Last week, the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport, Councillor Adrian Nottingham and Mrs Diane Nottingham, officially opened The Woodlands, a brand-new retirement community on Woodlands Road in Heaton Mersey.

The grand opening of Adlington Retirement Living’s 63 stylish age-exclusive apartments was celebrated with a sparkling reception in the beautifully appointed restaurant and lounge.

The Mayor of Stockport, Councillor Adrian Nottingham, who joined new homeowners, potential purchasers and the on-site team to mark the occasion, commented: “It was wonderful to meet some of the new homeowners who have moved into The Woodlands since it opened its doors in February. There’s already a real sense of community and it was good to see homeowners enjoying new friendships, social occasions, and activities as well as enjoying their beautiful apartments. I was really impressed with the restaurant, the open plan coffee bar and the beautiful gardens.”

Alexandra Johnson, Sales and Marketing Director at Adlington Retirement Living, added “We were delighted to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Stockport back to another Adlington Retirement Living community, this time to officially open The Woodlands. Adlington Retirement Living aims to empower our older generation to live a long, happy and healthy life. We do that by creating safe and secure environments with active communities, extensive facilities, and spacious, quality homes where our homeowners can enjoy their retirement.”

The Woodlands, an Adlington retirement community specially designed for those over the age of 55, welcomed its first homeowners in February 2022.

A range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments include quality fitted kitchens with integrated appliances, many feature en-suite shower rooms and separate bathrooms and most have walk-out balconies or a private patio area overlooking the beautifully landscaped gardens.

The communal facilities on offer include a hair salon, therapy suite and activities studio. A guest suite, equipped with a kitchenette and en-suite, is also available for visiting friends and family.

The 24-hour on-site support team provide homeowners with added peace of mind and, if needed, the option of tailored personal care. In addition to this, there is a sophisticated emergency call system as well as a security video entry to manage access.

Four of Adlington’s sites have won Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards for the Best Retirement Development at the WhatHouse? Awards, the UK housebuilding’s most prestigious event. The Folds in Romiley and the Bridges in Macclesfield won the Silver Award in 2020 and 2019, Adlington House in Otley won the Gold Award in 2017 and Adlington House in Portishead won the Bronze Award in 2015.

Tours of The Woodlands are available Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
