Hellens Group, the North East-based property, construction and manufacturing firm, has raised almost £17.5k for the Percy Hedley Foundation during a charity golf event at Wynyard.

Ten teams comprising business leaders from across the region teed off at the luxury golf course as part of Hellens Group’s year-long fundraising project to raise £50,000 to celebrate its 50th anniversary year.

So far, Hellens Group has raised £23,387 so far towards the target.

Founded in 1973 by John Hellens, Hellens Group has expanded considerably over the years, into markets including social housing, land and property development, including urban regeneration, as well as the production of hard landscaping materials at its Oakdale facility in Catterick.

The team at Hellens Group will participate in a number of fundraising activities in the 12 months leading up to March 2023 in order to raise essential funds for the Percy Hedley Foundation, which helps more than 650 people with complex needs each year to reach their full potential, live the life they want, and be happy by providing top quality care, education and lifelong learning opportunities.

The charity relies on money from donations and fundraising events to deliver services and new experiences, improve facilities and upgrade equipment.

Gavin Cordwell-Smith, chief executive of Hellens Group, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us for the golf day and helped us to raise an impressive £17,462 for the Percy Hedley Foundation.

“The foundation provides essential support for young people with cerebral palsy, communication impairments, sensory impairments, complex learning, social care and therapeutic needs and we’re delighted to have adopted them as our charity for our 50th anniversary.

“We’ve already made a fantastic start towards our ambitious £50,000 target and we’re looking forward to hosting our next fundraising event soon.”
