Five Star Housebuilder, Barratt Developments North East, has made a £1,000 donation to local charity, First Stop Darlington.

Barratt Developments North East, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has supported the charity close to its The Orchard at West Park development as part of its Community Fund initiative. With its ongoing commitment to support the communities in which it builds, the housebuilder pledges to donate £1,000 to a North East charity every month as part of its initiative.

Barratt’s donation will be used to support the service that First Stop Darlington provides to people of the area, including staffing time for accommodation and employment support.

Founded in 1999, First Stop Darlington was created to help rough sleepers in the area by providing accommodation support. Since then, the charity has built on its service offering and provides guidance and support across a number of areas, from accommodation to employment, and repayments to benefit contracts. Offering this service to anyone who walks through its doors, the charity has helped a number of people realise their potential and improve their lives.

Tracy Freeman, Chief Executive at First Stop Darlington, said: “We’re so grateful to Barratt for their donation to First Stop Darlington. We’ve been providing our service for over 20 years now and any donation really does help us to continue to improve our service offering.”

Carl Sobolewski, Managing Director at Barratt Developments North East said: “We’re extremely passionate about supporting our communities and our donation to First Stop Darlington is just one way we’re able to do this. The charity offers a fantastic service that provides direction and support to anyone who seeks out help, and we hope that our donation makes a positive impact.”
