Nigel Devine, fundraising for Earthquake Appeal Fund with high profile online auction

Local businessman Nigel Devine has launched his own fundraising series of events for the Turkey and Syria earthquake appeal.

Nigel Devine was so moved by the distressing news stories and footage showing the plight of the Turkey and Syrian earthquake victims that he decided to rally his various musician and artist contacts to organise their own fundraising events as well as supporting existing fundraisers.

On top of this, Nigel and pal Ray Laidlow of Lindisfarne, have garnered support in the form of prizes for a high-profile online auction that will be available to view shortly.

Donations for auction prizes are flooding in – from the handwritten lyrics for Back to Black from none other than AC/DC’s very own Brian Johnson – to a signed and framed original drawing from one of the UK’s most loved and collected contemporary impressionist artist’s – Alexander Millar. In addition, Johnny ‘Bluehat’ Davis (Sam Fender’s saxophonist) is donating his trademark bucket hat, a stunning ballgown has been donated by Cheryl – and local artist Mark Taylor has given one of his original paintings to the cause.

Events included in the fundraising campaign are:

  • Boogie on Down with DJ Phunky D – Saturday 18th February at The Ship’s Cat, Tynemouth
  • Local musician Steve Martin – Sunday 19th February at Three Tanners Bank, North Shields
  • Atmos Coastal – An evening with DJ Liam Robinson & friends Friday 24th February @ Barca El Globo, Tynemouth
  • And many more to be announced.

Local coastal venues also running events over the forthcoming two weeks are The Engine Room in North Shields, Alfie & Fin’s in Land of Green Ginger, Tynemouth, and the Magnesia Bank in North Shields.

Auction will be announced online later so watch press for details!

More than 36,000 are estimated to have been killed with the toll still rising, whilst tens of thousands have been injured after the magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria one week ago.
