Plans for the first bespoke designed home at Gosforth’s Great Park, which echoes traditional Victorian design styles, have been submitted for approval.
The news is the latest phase of an ambitious project by Newcastle architects Pod for a six-bedroomed property, which is now being considered by council planning officers.
The move is the culmination of months of work by the Toffee Factory-based architects, which has worked closely with the client on designs for the 6,000 sq. ft. bespoke home, creating contemporary living in a traditionally formed dwelling, drawing on a Victorian design ethos.
The bespoke property will be arranged around a central kitchen space which provides physical and visual connections to adjacent spaces and triple height volumes, allowing generous access to natural light.
Contributing to those staggered volumes are bespoke features such as an oak constructed modern take on a classical two storey bay window, anchoring the front elevation. The first-floor master bedroom benefits from panoramic views over the park.
These requirements were key drivers during the design stage, said Pod architect Hannah Darmody, who added that the project is an opportunity to design a stand out property within a large scale urban residential development scheme.
