Recycling specialist Scott Bros is helping Teesside bloom with the donation of more than 40 tonnes of high-quality compost as part of National Gardening Week.
The family-run firm is supporting green-fingered residents with a giveaway of two truckloads worth of compost, available free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis, following overwhelmingly positive feedback from previous years.
Deliveries have already been made to Stockton Borough Council’s former incinerator site, located beneath the flyover near Newport Bridge, and it’s available for collection now.
The compost, produced at Scott Bros’ Norton Bottoms site, is made from green waste gathered by local authorities including Stockton and Middlesbrough councils.
The material is shredded and treated using windrow composting, which accelerates decomposition and encourages microbial activity. The result is a nutrient-rich compost that meets PAS 100 quality standards, the benchmark for compost quality in the UK.
Bob Borthwick, a director of Haverton Hill-based Scott Bros, said: “We’re proud to continue supporting National Gardening Week by giving something back to local residents. Whether it’s used in gardens, on allotments or even in pots and planters, this compost is a great way to put recycled material to good use – and demonstrate how the circular economy can benefit both people and the planet.”
Scott Bros supplies compost throughout the region for use in agriculture, landscaping, and the DIY gardening market, available for both collection and delivery.
