North East appliance repair business Pacifica secures second consecutive RoSPA Gold Award

Pacifica undertakes more than 400,000 appliance repairs annually across the UK

North East appliance repair and warranty business Pacifica has secured a RoSPA Gold Award for the second consecutive year in recognition of its health and safety performance.

The Houghton-le-Spring-based company, which carries out more than 400,000 appliance repairs annually across the UK, has retained Gold status after receiving its first Gold Award last year and a Silver Award in 2023.

The RoSPA Health and Safety Awards recognise organisations for their occupational health and safety management, including leadership, risk management, workforce engagement and continuous improvement.

Richard Melvin, Head of Safety, Health, Environment, Quality and Training (SHEQT) at Pacifica, said achieving Gold for a second successive year reflected the company’s efforts to maintain the standards recognised by RoSPA last year.

“Health and safety is part of how we operate every day,” he said. “With our engineers working in homes and communities across the country, supported by colleagues throughout the business, maintaining consistently high standards requires commitment from everyone.”

Pacifica supports its health and safety programme through measures including regular training, toolbox talks and health and safety communications, alongside investment in PPE, site visits and quarterly health and safety committee meetings.

The business delivered more than 12,000 hours of training during its latest reporting period and also benchmarks its performance through independent auditing.

Pacifica works with a number of major appliance manufacturers, retailers and warranty providers, combining its nationwide engineering network with technology-led triage, parts management and repair processes.

More than 75% of repairs are completed on the first visit, while parts are pre-ordered for more than 85% of jobs.

Mr Melvin added: “To progress from Silver to Gold and now achieve Gold for a second consecutive year is important recognition of that collective effort.

“Our priority remains ensuring our people can work safely and return home safe every day, while continuing to identify where we can improve further.”

The RoSPA Awards are celebrating their 70th anniversary in 2026 and recognise health and safety performance among organisations in the UK and internationally.
