A first time buyer from York has has realised her house buying dream after choosing a new build home over an older property. Katie Drew, 24, a Dental Therapist and Hygienist, had lived in York all her life and having managed to save a deposit, began her housebuying search. Initially Katie tried to buy an older home, but after facing time consuming chain challenges which were taking months to resolve, she began to think that buying new may be more suited to her.
Having always loved the village of Copmanthorpe, just over three miles from the centre of York, Katie realised there was a new homes development being constructed there and went along to take a look. Katie fell in love with a home that was already constructed, at Miller Homes’ Knights Manor development, and just two weeks later Katie had her keys and was able to move in!
“The entire process was a complete dream compared to the months of wrangling I’d been experiencing trying to buy the older property,” said Katie. “Irene, the Development Sales Manager, and the team at Knights Manor truly pulled out all the stops, were incredibly helpful and supportive, and being able to move in just weeks was very exciting!”
Katie purchased a three bedroom Ingleton style of home. She was one of the first residents on site and has enjoyed seeing the development grow and new people move in. Katie had saved the required 5% deposit but also utilised the housebuilder 5% deposit paid offer, lowering her mortgage and giving her a little more monthly disposable income.
