A US-UK initiative helping technology businesses break into the American market is bringing a team of US insurance and financial services experts to Manchester next month. The InsurTech Corridor, a non-profit collaboration between the UK and Connecticut, is partnering with Venture Café Manchester to give North West tech businesses direct access to experts with experience of the US market.
The team will be at Venture Café Manchester at SISTER, Reynold Building, on Altrincham Street on Thursday 8 October, where founders can find out more about the initiative and meet members of the delegation. The initiative will also host one to one meetings for technology leaders with members of the visiting delegation.
Launched in 2022, the InsurTech Corridor has already helped more than 20 scaling UK businesses across insurtech, fintech, climate tech and legaltech to connect with the US insurance and financial services ecosystem.
The six-strong delegation visiting Manchester will be led by Gene Goddard, chief business investment officer at the MetroHartford Alliance, and Mike Hendy, a former fintech executive who is now a senior trade officer at the British Consulate in Boston. Mike leads support for UK technology businesses working across insurance, financial services, climate and regulatory markets.
Gene Goddard said: “We wanted to come to Manchester to meet scaling insurtech and fintech businesses from across the North West and are excited to collaborate on events and hold meetings here. There are huge opportunities for many North West technology firms in the US, and particularly within the insurance and financial services markets.”
Mike Hendy added: “We want to be accessible to as many firms and founders as possible while we are in Manchester. “Whether you are a pure-play insurtech or a wider fintech, climate tech or legaltech business, if you see an opportunity in the US, particularly in the insurance and financial services markets, we want to explore how we can help you make faster progress.”
