CheaperWaste invests in the future with the appointment of three key strategic roles.

The new appointments will strengthen CheaperWaste’s ambitious plans to improve waste management service for SME’s throughout the UK.

Newcastle-based Waste management company CheaperWaste, part of the CheaperGroup, have announced the appointment of Managing Director, Stewart Renfrew, People Strategy Director, Michael Shane, and Marketing Manager Carolyn Simpson, following a period of growth. The company which specialises in waste collection and disposal services for small to medium size businesses throughout the UK.

Stewart Renfrew brings with him 20 years of leadership experience and knowledge of managing SME businesses. He has held senior positions in a variety of sectors including transport & logistics, engineering and O&G.

Stewart will play a key role in meeting the company’s growth targets while working closely with the commercial and operational teams to formulate new strategies which align with the CheaperGroup’s overall goals.


Michael Shane has over 16 years’ experience in human resources and training and specialises in developing strategies for excellence in growing businesses worldwide. His previous appointments include Head of People and Learning Development at Ingeus (Saudi Arabia) and HR Manager at Northumbria University. It is Michael’s goal to make CheaperWaste one of the top employers in the North-East.

Completing the trio of recent appointments is Carolyn Simpson who will be responsible for the company’s strategic marketing communications. Carolyn was previously Marketing Specialist at touchscreen manufacturer Zytronic and brings almost a decade of experience in B2B marketing strategy and communications.

Further to the new appointments, Cheaperwaste will also be launching a new online ‘portal’ specifically designed to offer SME’s the same service levels as much larger corporate companies. This will be supported by a new CheaperWaste website and enhanced communications.
