Flurry of land sales show confidence in the Yorkshire development market

Sales agreed on a series of land deals across Yorkshire during the latter part of 2016 have demonstrated important indicators of demand, despite recent political change, according to Matthew Jones of Savills development team in Leeds.

He explains, “Over the autumn months we continued to both bring new sites to the market and exchange on sales for existing instructions.”

“In the last four months of 2016, we exchanged contracts on three sites in the Yorkshire region and have placed a further four sites on the market located in Harrogate, Coniston Cold near Skipton, Boroughbridge and Rotherham which range in size from 14 houses to 150 houses. Already we have a further four sites ready to go to the market early in the new year located throughout Yorkshire which will be capable of delivering up to 550 houses.”

“Housebuilders within our area are not holding back and the structure of the deals and the timing of these transactions demonstrate confidence across Yorkshire and beyond.

“Ultimately, the residential development market is under supplied.  It is fundamental that the government continues to support housing delivery and so long as policy and funding supports this we will continue to see demand for residential development land across the region.”
