DCS launches new data backup system

Boston Spa-based Deans Computer Services (DCS) have launched an innovative new backup solution which enables businesses to maintain secure onsite and offsite backups containing years of historical data.

The company’s Amber Vault system allows customers to hold data at their own premises and at a secure Tier 3 datacentre in Yorkshire. Backup data is encrypted at both locations as well as in transit with a personalised encryption key. Amber Vault’s excellent compression techniques, superior performance and block-level incremental backups provide the capability to retain days, weeks, months and years of point-in-time backups.

DCS managing director, Patrick Clayton, said: “An organisation’s data is absolutely paramount to its operation. It has been reported that 80% of businesses affected by a major data loss incident either never re-open or close within 18 months. Every company wants the peace of mind of knowing their data is secure and easily accessible, no matter what, and Amber Vault has been developed to provide that certainty.”

“Amber Vault negates the need to swap and maintain a rotation of tapes or portable hard drives. It provides a host of benefits and advantages, including a complete disaster recovery solution, longer backup history, significantly reduced backup times, fast implementation, efficient and flexible use of bandwidth and a quick restore procedure for entire virtual machines, individual files, Active Directory objects, SQL objects and mailboxes. Our Tier 3 datacentre guarantees 99.982% availability of the data.”

Formed in 1982, the company provides systems consultancy and integration, networking installations, equipment maintenance and repairs, software installation with training and support, bespoke programming, internet e-mail/e-commerce solutions and business forms.
