Local housebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire East, which includes the Barratt Homes and David Wilson Homes brands, has donated £1,000 as part of its Community Fund initiative to The Rock Foundation, a front-line charitable organisation that has created new and unique provisions for young people and adults with learning disabilities and disadvantages.

Located near to Barratt Homes’ Wigmore Park development in New Waltham, Grimsby, the chosen charity, The Rock Foundation, supports young people and adults with learning disabilities. They provide a wide variety of practical workshops and supported work placements as part of their aim to help their service users develop life and employment skills, increase their self-esteem and independence, and ultimately improve their quality of life overall.

With the help of the £1,000 donation from Barratt Developments Yorkshire East’s Community Fund, an initiative which aims to support the communities in which the housebuilder operates with a different chosen charity each month, further support will be offered to the The Rock Foundation’s team to make a difference to the young people and adults they work with.

Pamela Hodge, C.E.O and founder of The Rock Foundation, said: “We are extremely grateful to Barratt Developments Yorkshire East for this donation. Here at The Rock Foundation, we work with people of all ages with learning disabilities and support them to develop their skills through a wide range of workshops and work placements. The funds will help us to continue to offer the best possible service to those involved in our charity.”

Sarah Crawford, Sales Manager at Barratt Homes Wigmore Park, commented: “The Rock Foundation does a truly fantastic job in offering support to people in the local community, and it has been an honour to nominate the charity for our Community Fund donation. We hope that our donation will help to raise awareness of the incredible work that the charity does, and help it to continue supporting individuals with learning disabilities and disadvantaged.”
