Manchester’s Property Market Continues to Flourish

Around 150 property experts from across Greater Manchester and North West region came together for an event highlighting current trends in Manchester’s property market.

Entitled ‘Manchester – Why we love it, and what makes Manchester a compelling real estate investment opportunity – this year & beyond’, the event, which was hosted by NatWest’s Real Estate Finance team in partnership with Shoosmiths, included a panel of experts giving their opinions on trends within the Manchester market and why the property sector continues to boom locally.

The panel included: Ken Knott, Chief Development Officer of Select Property Group; Chris Oglesby, CEO of Bruntwood, Paul Coates Managing Director of Real Estate, NatWest; and Vaqas Farooq, Head of Office and Head of Real Estate at Shoosmiths Manchester.

Last year NatWest Real Estate Finance launched its M60 event series which brought together property experts for discussions on key issues across the sector and wider economy. The latest event, which was held on Thursday, March 2 at Manchester Central, is the first of three events to be held this year.

Host Heath Thomas, Head of Real Estate Finance North West at NatWest, said: ”Manchester is a fantastic city and continues to experience rapid growth across the real estate sector. Demand for all types of property including residential, student and commercial is strong, and the bank locally is supporting an array of projects across the real estate sector.

“Our first M60 event of the year brought together some of the regions’ highest profile investment leaders. The discussion centred on how we can work together to fulfil the demand of Manchester’s dynamic real estate market. The real estate sector in Manchester supports so many of the city’s wider growth aspirations, it is vital we continue to harness the opportunity this year and beyond.  I thank Ken Knott, Chris Oglesby and Paul Coates for their support and sharing their excellent insights on the day.”

Vaqas Farooq, Head of Shoosmiths Manchester, said:  “Manchester’s booming property sector is one of the stand-out economic success stories in the UK. As advisers we have supported on a number of key transformational projects in the city and see a strong pipeline of work ahead as local regeneration and development continues to accelerate. The M60 event is an excellent forum for the city’s real estate professionals to come together, identify opportunity and look at how we can best support Manchester’s property market going forward.”
