T12 Engineering secures major subsea contract with Norwegian oil & gas operator

A CGI of the subsea modular structure

T12 Engineering has secured a major contract with an independent Norwegian oil and gas operator, strengthening its position in one of Europe’s most important energy markets.

The business, which operates from Teesside, Glasgow and Edinburgh, will design and manufacture a 60-tonne subsea modular structure that is mission-critical to the safe operation of subsea equipment in the Norwegian Sea. T12 Engineering will project manage the full engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) scope.

While the operator cannot be disclosed due to a confidentiality agreement, the company believes successful delivery of the project will unlock further opportunities in the Scandinavian market.

The subsea system has a 59m² footprint and is scheduled for installation in Q3 this year. A defining feature of the design is its modular construction, allowing the structure to fit within standard shipping containers. This enables efficient delivery by land or sea from its fabrication base in the North East of England, significantly reducing transportation costs. The modular approach also allows the system to be repurposed for future subsea applications.

During the concept phase, T12 Engineering worked closely with its fabrication partners to optimise the design, improve material efficiency and control costs — a collaborative approach that proved instrumental in securing the contract.

The system will comply with the operator’s internal quality assurance and HSE requirements, as well as all relevant DNV and NORSOK standards. T12 Engineering will also provide a comprehensive documentation and smart data package, ensuring full traceability across the design, testing and fabrication processes.

While T12 Engineering has supported the operator on smaller projects over the past 18 months, this award represents its first major contract with the client. It follows the opening of the company’s Oslo office last year, which has helped cement its presence in the Norwegian energy market.

Graham Melroy, Director at T12 Engineering, said: “This is a significant milestone for T12. Securing our first major award with this operator marks an important step forward, and we see the project as a catalyst for building long-term relationships across Scandinavia.”

Fellow Director Andrew Hughes added: “The award highlights the depth of expertise within our team and its ability to deliver high-integrity subsea solutions on complex projects. It also demonstrates the value of continued investment in strengthening our international presence.”

The contract follows T12 Engineering’s recent announcement of a strategic partnership with Priner Serviços Industriais S.A., one of Brazil’s leading industrial and engineering service providers. The company has extensive experience delivering subsea engineering solutions designed to extend asset life.
