Credit Union to branch out in Lancashire and Cheshire

Unify Credit Union has expanded its membership base to include Warrington and South Ribble to reach more people in need of ethical and affordable financial services.

The credit union currently has 10,000 members across Wigan, Leigh, Chorley, and Skelmersdale.

The expansion aims to support residents in Warrington and South Ribble with loans and savings products that will be easily accessed online, on the phone, and in-branch.

Angela Fishwick, chief executive of Unify Credit Union, said: “The past year has been tough for so many people – emotionally, physically, and financially – it’s more important than ever that people have easy access to financial services from an organisation that genuinely cares about helping them take control of their money matters.

“Many people don’t realise that they don’t have to turn to a faceless high street bank to access savings and loans – and that their local credit union can often compete with the high street banks in terms of loan deals.

“By making our loans and savings services available online, on the phone, and in branches, we are ensuring the opportunity to become a member of Unify Credit Union is accessible to all.”

Credit Unions are a financial co-operative, meaning any person who saves and borrows with them becomes a ‘member’. Members each have an equal share of the credit union and the profits that it makes – meaning money stays within the local area.
