Manchester based pharmacy chain appoints new retail stores director

National pharmacy chain, Well, has appointed Tracy Barton as its new retail stores director.
Tracy, who formally took up her new post in the New Year, originally joined Well as human resources director in March 2015, before becoming the interim retail stores director in October last year.

Prior to her time at Well, Tracy worked at Asda for three years, as senior director of organisational effectiveness and had previously held the position as head of people.
Tracy’s preceding experience as human resources and trading law director at One Stop Stores Ltd gives her more than 15 years’ senior experience in the retail sector.

Based at the company’s head office, located in Manchester, Tracy will now be charged with continuing to improve on the quality of service that Well delivers for its customers across its 780 store portfolio, reporting directly into Well CEO John Nuttall.

Tracy will be focusing on growing Well’s prescription business and ensuring good retail standards, while driving engagement with the pharmacy’s operations team.

Speaking about her appointment, Tracy said: “I’m looking forward to continuing in my position as retail stores director. When first acting in the role, I dedicated time to working in store to help me to fully understand what it is like for our colleagues and our customers.

“Based on insights obtained from this experience, we implemented a ‘Simpler for Stores’ programme at Well, which focuses on reducing, simplifying, and where possible, removing tasks from our stores, so that more time can be spent supporting our customers.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with colleagues to maintain Well pharmacy’s high standards and further improve our offering to new and existing customers across the country.”

John Nuttall, chief executive officer of Well, commented: “Tracy’s track record of bringing forward improvements to services, as well as her reputation for developing relations with staff and stakeholders, were key reasons for her permanent appointment to the role as retail stores director.

“Her exceptional leadership skills, deep knowledge of consumer retail, and proven track record of execution and operational excellence, made Tracy an obvious choice.
“Tracy’s experience, enthusiasm and passion for colleagues and customers is already helping to transform our stores to provide the healthcare of the future.”
