As World Cup fever grips the region, one West Yorkshire junior football team has plenty of reasons to celebrate after scoring a welcome sponsorship boost from a leading housebuilder.
Lepton Highlanders Under 8’s football team, which plays in the Huddersfield Junior Football League, received £750 from Miller Homes to help purchase essential equipment and clothing to see them through their next season.
“Local sports teams, such as Lepton Highlanders, are at the heart of our communities and provide opportunities for children to learn sports, be part of a team and establish good character traits such as resilience, determination and fairness,” said Debbie Whittingham, Regional Sales Director, Miller Homes Yorkshire. “It’s a pleasure to be able to support this local team and wish them well for the upcoming 2026/27 season.”
Miller Homes donated the money to help the team buy new kit which now proudly displays the company logo on their match shirts and shorts.
Alan Richardson from Lepton Highlanders said; “Support from the local community is essential for clubs like ours and we are very appreciative of the support and interest Miller Homes has shown in our club.”
Lepton Highlanders Football Club is located close to the housebuilders’ Woodsome View development which is situated in the village.
The team trains at Lepton Highlanders Sports and Social Club on a Tuesday evening with games taking place across the region, typically on a Sunday. Several of the team also attend nearby Rowley Lane Primary School situated opposite the new development.
Woodsome View will bring 80 two, three, four and five bedroom homes to the area and offers a range of house styles to suit the needs of modern home owners including open plan dining kitchens, private gardens and off road parking or garages.
