A Yorkshire based housebuilding team downed tools for a day recently and went to work on a Barnsley based community project.
The team from Miller Homes Yorkshire helped out at Rabbit Ings Country Park in Barnsley and undertook a range of duties to help maintain the site and ensure its ongoing access and enjoyment for visitors.
The volunteering day supports Miller Homes’ regional charity partnership with Groundwork for 2026.

Throughout the year, the partnership will include a financial contribution, volunteering support from regional teams across the UK, and fundraising activities to help Groundwork carry out essential works to open spaces.
Debbie added; “ Helping to maintain this outdoor space at Rabbit Ings Country Park will make a real impact, helping more children and families benefit from outdoor learning through the Wellies in the Woods programme.”
Rabbit Ings Country Park is a 64-hectare green space near Royston, South Yorkshire, developed on the former site of Monkton Colliery and Royston Drift Mine, which closed in 1989. The site was officially opened as a country park in 2011 and came under the management of the Land Trust in 2012.
The park features footpaths with panoramic views, alongside woodland and wetland areas that support a wide range of wildlife. A distinctive rabbit image carved into the hillside, created with help of 192 local schoolchildren, is visible from miles away.
